Great read on the high dose IV vitamin C and its use in Cancer.  

A very small study, but vitamin C shown to reduce fatigue, perception of fatigue and reduced heart rate.  This has implications in improving athletic performance.  The question, what does high dose vitamin C due for fatigue, heart rate, and athletic performance.

IV vitamin C > 15 grams falsely elevates finger sticks on glucose. Glucose and vitamin C are very similar chemically. This, however, is a false reading.

Nice study that reveals the pharmacologic mechanism of vitamin C as a pro-oxidant in cancer cells.  Obviously, this effect is opposite that found blood.   In this study they looked at high dose IV vitamin C in the treatment of ovarian, pancreatic, and glioblastoma cancer.  Treatment was beneficial and well tolerated.

Proof of conept finds IV vitamin C is synergistic with chemotherapy in ovarian cancer.  In addition, a reduction in toxic side effects were also seen.  Why is vitamin C not used???  The results were found in in vivo and in vitro study.

IV vitamin C shown to be beneficial in treatment of renal cell cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and breast cancer without toxic side effects.  The doses provided here were high dose and these are patients that are very unhealthy.

IV vitamin C shown to be adjunctive with the chemotherapy regimens FOLFIRI and FOLFOX in colorectal and gastric cancer despite the therapeutic dose limited to 1.5 mg/kg/day, which is a low dose likely resulting in sub-therapeutic levels.

IV, high dose, vitamin C adjunct therapy shown to aid in the remission in to women with ovarian cancer. These two cases studies do only looked and high dose antioxidant therapy as an adjunct in ovarian cancer and they found good results.

IV vitamin C at 50 grams twice weekly shown to reduce side effects associated with chemotherapy.  Granted, this is a single case study without comparison, but this is supported by other studies.

High dose IV vitamin C shown to be well tolerated in those on hemodialysis.  Liver enzymes were followed throughout the course of the 6 month trial.  In fact, IV vitamin C was shown to improve the response of the EPO therapy.

Low vitamin C levels accelerate the initiation of leukemia. High dose vitamin C found to accumulate and promote Tet2 activity in haematopoietic stem cells, thereby  decreasing initiation and progression of leukemia.
